Nobody really prepares you for how much relationships can teach you about yourself.
You might fall in love.
You might give someone your whole heart.
You might genuinely believe that person will be part of your future.
And then things don’t work out.
Heartbreak can make you question yourself.
You may wonder whether you weren’t enough, whether you could have done something differently or whether you’ll ever feel that way about someone again.
But heartbreak doesn’t mean that the relationship was meaningless.
Sometimes relationships teach us what we need.
They teach us how we want to be loved.
They teach us our boundaries.
They show us what we will and will not accept in the future.
And sometimes they teach us the importance of choosing ourselves.
Healing is not always a straight line.
You can feel completely okay one week and suddenly miss someone the next.
You can know that something is over and still love the person.
Those feelings can exist at the same time.
Give yourself permission to heal at your own pace.
You don’t need to pretend that you don’t care just because the relationship ended.
You simply need to learn how to care without losing yourself.
